Best VPN for China

Hi everyone,

You might have heard that recently China have blocked a ton of VPNs. So I wanted to talk to you about ExpressVPN, which seems to still be working over here.

I’ve tried Astrill, StrongVPN, and PandaPow, as well as a few others, but I find that a lot of larger VPNs are still a little bit unsteady with their services. Astrill is obviously one of the bigger VPNs but I personally found that the speeds were a little bit unreliable and customer support was next to none.

If im going to give a bit of advice to you, it’s to try some of these companies free trials and money back guarantees. If you’re going to pay for something, it’s always worth seeing whether it works for you – as speeds often vary depending on many factors such as where you’re living, or what ISP you're using, for example.

For me, ExpressVPN ticks all the boxes. Now that I’m working over here, it’s difficult sometimes to keep in touch with friends and family as obviously certain websites are blocked.

One of the main problems I’ve encountered with VPNs is that speeds can be really slow at times, thankfully I've not had anything unbearably slow with ExpressVPN that I had with Astrill yet, so fingers crossed.

I actually found out that when I want to increase my internet speed I normally just connect to one of the various servers around Asia as this tends to speed up my internet rather than a server back in the US.

Just a quick note, on my Mac I initially ran into some issues connecting to ExpressVPN because my ISP was hijacking my computer's DNS servers. I got in touch with customer support on Live Chat, and they told me to use OpenDNS, which solved the problem. Customer support was pretty quick and helped solve the problem quickly so a big thumbs up for that.

Overall I’d recommend in the next few days watching for whether ExpressVPN gets blocked as well, I assume that when a certain app has lines of people rushing to download it, China picks up on these things pretty fast…Either way, I recommend trying out as many services as you can, ExpressVPN worked well for me but I can’t guarantee that it’ll work the same for everyone else.

Let me know in the comments below what you think of ExpressVPN, or if you have any other services to talk about.

Hey everybody! Today I'm going to talk to you about ExpressVPN for Android.

I’m quite a privacy minded person, so when i’m going online when i’m away from home, anyone can quite easily steal my data. This makes me feel a bit uneasy when I’m online in a coffee shop, or walking to work…especially since I do a lot of my online banking via mobile now.
More frequently I listen to music on the way to work as well, ExpressVPN lets me unblock Spotify as well, and obviously as a songwriter this is quite beneficial for me.
I was recommended to download a VPN, and I chose ExpressVPN in the Google Play store. I’m not entirely technical, so I wanted to test it before I bought it and they offer a 24 hours free version which was nice as well.

Overall speed of the VPN is quite fast, and I haven’t had any problems – but I’d advise on trialling the service first as I’ve heard that speeds largely depend on what country you’re in and which servers you're connecting to.

There are a whole load of settings as well, which once you get into can be quite nice…Such as adding the widget to your home screen. The app remembers the last location that you connected to which is awesome as it saves me opening up the app everyday.

I'm personally using it to unblock Spotify and other apps, so I just use the US servers. But sometimes I connect to the UK server to watch Dr. Who on BBC iPlayer, but there are many many servers you can choose to connect to so it really depends on your needs.

Overall it’s pretty cheap, and comes in at around $8 per month for the yearly plan, which isn’t much.

I can also use the VPN on as many devices as I like so have ExpressVPN installed on my PC as well.

There are probably cheaper services out there, but given the level of customer support, the vast selection of servers, I’d recommend ExpressVPN for any Android user.

Thanks for watching, and see you soon!
